Old Time Radio Researchers Group - Dark Fantasy

DARK FANTASY

Dark Fantasy was a short series with tales of the weird, adventures of the supernatural, created for you by Scott Bishop. The series aired as a horror drama on NBC between 1941 and 1942.

Dark Fantasy was a series dedicated to dealings with the unknown. Originating from radio station WKY, Oklahoma City, it was written by Scott Bishop (of Mysterious Traveler and The Sealed Book fame) and was heard Fridays over stations. Tom Paxton served as announcer. The shows covered horror, science fiction and murder mysteries. Although a short series, the shows are excellent with some stories way ahead of their time. The following is a news promo promoting the show:

Every since Lights Out went out several years ago, fans of the fiendish have been clamoring for more good old goose-pimple horror drama on the air. Now they have it. One of the programs that currently freezes the airwaves with its chilling stories is Dark Fantasy comparatively new to the networks. In the late hours of Friday nights these shivery, shocking stories go out over NBC - right straight from Oklahoma City, which you might not have thought of as headquarters for haunts. Station WKY is the home of the Dark Fantasy plays, and the writer is Scott Bishop, who lives in the midst of mystery and the supernatural, represented by the innurnerable volumes of thriller fiction, fantasy lore and all kinds of horror literature that fill his home andhis office. Bishop has long contributed to network broadcasting and to magazines. He says, "Give the listener enough material to let his imagination go to work, and he'll supply his own goose-pimples."

We trust in consequences.
it wont be mourn but celebrated.
Back to the matter of imagery!

"Bubastis ii", an elusive, ghost-like record,
its magical appearance can unfold itself to those who stop
and listen to the obscured by time and space, or completely lost to the world.
in here, Origami Robotikii is "the bringer",
therefore associated with divination and clairvoyance;
and only by respecting its behavior and listening carefully may one begin to receive an answer.

indeed, Origami Robotikii, have large eyes, and a keen sense of hearing which enables them to boon and bane.
this late one bringing us closer to the nature we all beset under.
this gemstone will keep all foul Omens away.

Fifth album of Narcotic Noise explores using different types of rhythms in dark ambient music. Should be played around midnight during a full moon. If you get hypnotized, shift consciousness, fall into a coma, appear on the Moon or go insane, you've done it right. Side effects may include getting abducted by aliens. If that happens, send them to http://hauntedklinik.xtreemhost.com and make them download some albums. That will give them a headache and they will let you go.

Jeff Ryan - The Waning Gibbous

David knew the craters of the moon visible to the naked eye; he also knew the ones he could only see with the eyes of the wolf. David spent his weeks in a psychiatric institute, his heavy beard growing full and thick, curly hair sprouting from all the places men did not want hair. Then those three days a month when the moon was full rolled by. The other residents grew insaner, unbalanced by the lunational pull on their brains. The schizophrenics were the worst: they saved up crazy for weeks to parade it in front of that full moon. But David, a werewolf, did not. No, the werewolf curse was that werewolves only had three days a month when they weren’t barking mad. Starting on that waxing gibbous moon, David’s head cleared of the cheesecloth that obscured its lens. He saw and heard the same things the orderlies and custodians did. David’s first act, looking into the mirror and seeing a sasquatch staring back, was to shave himself bald from head to toe. It took two hours of work with a safety razor, which he was allowed beginning on that waxing gibbous. Then, clean-pated and as unlycanthropic as possible, David lived. The werewolf watched good films and read good books, caught up on the world and contacted friends and family members. Some moons he would not sleep at all, since the sane moments were too rich to waste with rest. After three days, the waning gibbous moon would lose hold over his brain, and the cloud of dementia would return. Within a day David had a crewcut all over. Within two days he required restraints when given food and meds. Within a week he was feral as a lobo all over again.

Sean Ryan - In Sickness and in Health

In Sickness and in Health
Hristo accepted the fact that his wife Nadia was a werewolf. He could have married a woman who was not a werewolf, but life was more adventurous this way. For a few predetermined days out of every month, she was not herself. She growled, she snapped, she seemed determine to ruin Hristo's life. After that it was back to normal, the Nadia he knew and loved. Their marriage quickly fell into a good routine. For 25 days in a row, Nadia was perfect, herself. And then for three days she went in the cage. It was a cage made for a large dog, in a corner of the cellar, and Nadia could fit in it if she stooped down. Nadia handed her clothes out through the grate, Hristo gave her three days' worth of water and dog food, locked the strong padlock, and left her to howl at the moon. Three days later, Hristo undid the padlock, helped the now-bruised Nadia out of the cage, slipped a robe around her shoulders, and made sure he had a nice meal waiting for her up in the kitchen. Hristo would fill Nadia in on what had happened in the world in the past three days. Some time during the meal Nadia would always try to convince Hristo that she was not a werewolf, that it was just PMS which gave her mood swings. And Hristo would always answer that life was more adventurous this way.

Wolf Blood (1925)

The oldest remaining werewolf movie. A silent feature.

Dick Bannister is the new field boss of the Ford Logging Company, a Canadian logging-crew during a time when conflicts with the powerful Consolidated Lumber Company, a bitter rival company, have turned bloody, like a private war. His boss, Miss Edith Ford, comes to inspect the lumberjack camp, bringing her doctor fiancé with her. Dick is attacked by his rivals and left for dead. His loss of blood is so great that he needs a transfusion, but no human will volunteer, so the surgeon uses a wolf as a source of the blood. Afterwards, Dick begins having dreams where he runs with a pack of phantom wolves, and the rival loggers get killed by wolves. Soon, these facts have spread through the camp and most of the lumberjacks decide that Dick is a werewolf.

Jeff Ryan - Lessons from a Lifetime of Lycanthropy

--Never go to the tropics. The moon pulls harder there.
--Set up a safe den. Your instincts will return you there period after period.
--Keep the den stocked with sanitary napkins. No one tests the blood in tampons.
--Spend your non-period days associating human flesh with electrical shocks. Your body will remember despite its change.
--Never shackle yourself, especially not by the hand. We’ve all seen what animals do to survive when a limb is trapped. Use a cage instead.
--Spend several evenings a month verifying your alibi. Never frequent one bar exclusively, say, since the regulars will notice when you go missing every month.
--Keep extra-large clothes around for your period days. No need to ruin your outfits.
--Need it even be said, avoid wolfsbane, silver, fennel, anise, and licorice. Remember: very few people know of licorice’s powers. Pretend you simply dislike black licorice.
--Keep attending meetings. Support groups are the first Monday after the gibbous moon.
--Women: keep your hair above the shoulder. Men: same thing, and no facial hair either. The more hair you have before your period, the easier you’ll be to recognize during it.
--Give yourself plenty of lavatory time the first few days after your period. Your diet has changed during these days, and your insides aren’t used to passing bones or jewelry.
--Tell only close friends and family about your periods. Give them plenty of licorice before a period. Don’t assume since you love them, they’ll be safe.
--Be sure to test yourself every six months for STDs. During your period you’ll do more than kill and eat.
--Never give up. With the proper care and guidance, lycanthropes are living longer and more fulfilling lives than ever before.
